One theory gaining traction in the Benghazi-gate cover-up is that President Obama, through Ambassador Stevens, was quite possibly shuffling guns and weapons to Libyan “freedom fighters” who were also linked to Al-Qaeda groups. And the terror attacks is how Steven’s mission to regain these weapons went very bad. The Obama Admin. then did everything they could to distance themselves from it and cover-up the truth with the story of a video sparking violence, and in addition just callously went to bed while all this was going on. So what evidence supports this theory?
* We know that the U.S. Consulate in Libya lacked the usual security measures enjoyed by other embassies, including a Marine detail whose mission it is to protect the U.S. Ambassador.
* We know that despite a series of violent attacks in Libya, which even resulted with the British pulling out of Libya, Stevens and his men were order to stay in the country. Ambassador Stevens even had grave concerns for is safety and was repeatedly denied additional security. This from FOX News confirms this:
Former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team who was at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to “stand down,” according to sources familiar with the exchange. Soon after, they were again told to “stand down.”
Woods and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the consulate which at that point was on fire. Shots were exchanged. The rescue team from the CIA annex evacuated those who remained at the consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight.
At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied. There were no communications problems at the annex, according those present at the compound. The team was in constant radio contact with their headquarters. In fact, at least one member of the team was on the roof of the annex manning a heavy machine gun when mortars were fired at the CIA compound. The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Spectre gunship, which is commonly used by U.S. Special Operations forces to provide support to Special Operations teams on the ground involved in intense firefights. The fighting at the CIA annex went on for more than four hours — enough time for any planes based in Sigonella Air base, just 480 miles away, to arrive. Fox News has also learned that two separate Tier One Special operations forces were told to wait, among them Delta Force operators.
Some quick facts about the attacks and our operational support in the area:
- Benghazi was a 7 hr attack
- 8 special operations soldiers were sent from Tripoli to Benghazi
- Fast Team of Marines sent from Spain to guard embassy in Tripoli
- Special Operations force was moved from Central Europe to Air Force base southern Italy
- F16 Apache helicopters remained parked in Air Force Base in northern Italy
- 2 Navy Destroyers were moved that day to the coast of Libya in the Mediterranean but were never used
- The attacks were watched in real time either by drones above or cameras on site
As far as the Obama Admin being aware of these attacks, this week Reuters broke the story that 2 hours after the attacks began (in this 7 hour battle) emails went out informing the WH and agencies that is was indeed a planned terror attack and that Ansar al-Sharia was taking credit for it. The first email, timed at 4:05 p.m. Washington time – or 10:05 p.m. Benghazi time, 20-30 minutes after the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission allegedly began – carried the subject line “U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi Under Attack” and the notation “SBU”, meaning “Sensitive But Unclassified.”
The text said the State Department’s regional security office had reported that the diplomatic mission in Benghazi was “under attack. Embassy in Tripoli reports approximately 20 armed people fired shots; explosions have been heard as well.”
A second email, headed “Update 1: U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi” and timed 4:54 p.m. Washington time, said that the Embassy in Tripoli had reported that “the firing at the U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi had stopped and the compound had been cleared.” It said a “response team” was at the site attempting to locate missing personnel.
A third email, also marked SBU and sent at 6:07 p.m. Washington time, carried the subject line: “Update 2: Ansar al-Sharia Claims Responsibility for Benghazi Attack.”
The message reported: “Embassy Tripoli reports the group claimed responsibility on Facebook and Twitter and has called for an attack on Embassy Tripoli.”

So what else do we know?
President Obama orchestrated sending assistance to Libya rebels, as reported ABC News reported back on March 30, 2011:
The finding does not direct covert operatives to provide arms to the rebels immediately, although it does prepare for such a contingency and other contingencies should the president decide to go down that road in the future.
Also, as recent as August 1, 2012, CNN reported that President Obama has also taken steps to give assistance to Syrian rebels:
President Barack Obama has signed a covert directive authorizing U.S. support for Syrian rebels battling President Bashar al-Assad‘s forces, U.S. officials told CNN on Wednesday.
The secret order, referred to as an intelligence “finding,” allows for clandestine support by the CIA and other agencies.
It was unclear when the president signed the authorization for Syria, but the sources said it was within the past several months.
Add to this Obama’s recent appointment of Thomas Pickering to investigate the terror attacks in Benghazi, Libya, and a very questionable arrangement seems to appear.
Pickering’s Islamic-connections came to light after a report by the Investigative Project on Terrorism was published, exposing what it called the “scores” of established, radical Islamists who met with senior administration officials over the course of hundreds of White House visits.
So how does this lead to gun-running?
The plan(s), which reads much like a “Mission Impossible” plot that goes wrong where all the cast of high paid actors are taken out when their country “disavows” their actions, orchestrates a plan to help so-called ‘freedom fighters’ not giving a damn whether they are linked to Al-Qaeda or not.
It appears to be ‘gun running’ this way. An arrangement, sparked by Obama, with Abassador Stevens and jihadist Abdelhakim Belhadj was set-up in order to get weapons in the hands of Libyan rebels. If Stevens actual mission was to retrieve the weapons earlier provided to the Libyan rebels it clearly went very wrong. Interestingly, 30 minutes before the attacks began, the Turkish Ambassador left Stevens without incident. It has also been reported in video on the Blaze by Beck, and confirmed by 20-year CIA veteran Clare Lopez & FOX News, that a ship carrying arms traveled from Benghazi, Libya to Turkey. Also reported is that Belhadj has been working with the Syrian rebels. Now, as of a few days ago, Russia, who has been supplying arms to the Syrian government, has been complaining that the Syrian rebels have U.S. weapons, as reported by the BBC.
It is also worth noting that President Obama and the PM of Turkey are on ‘very’ good terms. In fact, President Obama has had a pretty ‘open door policy’ for several Islamic radicals that leaves many wondering where his loyalties lie. It is clear there are still many unanswered questions yet in regards to the events leading up to, during, and after the terror attacks in Benghazi. However, this president does not seem anxious to provide answers to those questions, especially to give answers that could effect his chances on election day. This is neither leadership or national security, and with the result being dead Americans it should be criminal or at least impeachable. One of my favorite lines from the old Perry Mason shows were, “Were you lying then or are you lying now?” Time will tell as the facts in this latest scandal from the Obama Admin are continuing to come in ‘fast and furious.’
