Independent?: OFA Recruiting Video Filmed In White House

liarWhite House Press Secretary, Jay Carney, outright lied during a press conference yesterday while he was attempting to defend the President from the accusation that supporters who paid $500,000 to Organizing For Action (OFA) gained access to the President when he said:

OFA is an independent organization… it has been organized to rally support for the President’s policy agenda but it is a separate organization..

It would seem that OFA is so ‘independent’ from the Obama Administration that its recruiting video, featuring First Lady Michelle Obama, was filmed in the First Lady’s office located in the White House.  Here is the Video:

According to the White House the below picture was taken in the First Lady’s White House office in 2010.  You can clearly see, when comparing the picture to a screen shot taken from the recruiting video, the wall color in both  pictures are identical as is the lamp, proving that both events took place in the same location.

Adding to the ‘independence’ of OFA , on January 18th, 2013 President Obama sent an email to supporters asking them to join OFA.   Coincidentally that email promoted the same OFA recruiting video featuring the First Lady:

Today, a new grassroots organization is being launched: Organizing for Action.

Following in the footsteps of the campaign you built, Organizing for Action will be an unparalleled force in American politics. It will work to turn our shared values into legislative action — and it’ll empower the next generation of leaders in our movement.

Michelle recorded a video to tell you more about the new organization — take a look and let OFA know you’re in:

Introducing Organizing for Action

We may have started this as a long shot presidential primary campaign in 2007, but it’s always been about more than just winning an election. Together, we’ve made our communities stronger, we’ve fought for historic legislation, and we’ve brought more people than ever before into the political process.

We have the power to do even more to change our politics and our country for the better. With Organizing for Action, you’ll have every resource you need to do it.

But it starts with you. This new organization is in your hands.

I’m so excited to see what you all do next — and so grateful to be part of it.

As you can see, Jay Carney more than stretched the truth when he attempted to defend the Obama Administration by saying that OFA was an ‘independent’ organization.

Because while OFA may not be an ‘official’ branch of the U.S. Government, it is obvious, even to someone who is visually impaired like myself, that it is not ‘independent’ from President Obama and the First Lady.
